Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Your Hours?

We are open Monday through Friday from 2 PM – 8 PM and most Saturdays from 10 AM – 3 PM.

However, we also understand that a crisis isn’t scheduled! Should you need to make an appointment outside of our typical hours, we strive to be very flexible with our schedule.

Do You Take Insurance?

We are currently in-network with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Cigna. We are happy to provide superbills to our clients who have other insurances that are out-of network for us at this time so that they can submit them to their insurance for possible reimbursement.

What is the difference between talking to a therapist versus talking to my friends or family?

Of course we encourage strong social support systems, however, there are a few important differences between talking with a therapist as opposed to talking with family or friends. For one thing, therapists are professionally trained to provide support, appropriate challenges, as well as teach skills, and help you gain different perspectives. Furthermore, psychotherapy is confidential, so you don’t have to worry about people in your life knowing your private business or sharing that information with others. Also, many people worry about “burdening” family or friends with their concerns. Therapists are trained to handle the topics that their clients present to them without the “burden”.

do you prescribe medication?

Currently, we do not have any psychiatrists on staff, thus we do not have a doctor to prescribe medication at this time. We can however offer referrals to help you find local psychiatrists that will assist you with medication management. We recommend that a release of information be signed so that we can communicate with other professionals to provide the highest quality of care to our clients.

is medication necessary to do psychotherapy?

The short answer is no. Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can be very effective, however medication is not required or always necessary. We view medication as a tool that can be useful in different circumstances, but we also fully support clients that would like to use alternative methods such as natural supplementation, essential oils, etc.

how long will it take?

We wish that there was a simple answer to this question! Everyone’s situation is different as are their life experiences so people come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. The length of time for therapy depends on many different aspects, and we are more than willing to discuss these factors at the intake session as well as throughout the therapy process.
